I am very pleased to introduce myself to the readers of EtikaLLC.com. My name is Getty Rothenberg, however, my friends refer to me as Andy. On Friday February 28 I will surrender to FCI Petersburg to begin serving an 18-month sentence for violating wire fraud statutes.
For a quick background, I graduated from the University of Georgia, then built my career as an entrepreneur. I am proudly married to the love of my life and have two beautiful children.
Despite having many privileges and opportunities, I made some bad decisions while working in the field of finance and as a result will have to endure separation from my family.
Although I have yet to surrender to federal prison I have already committed to making the most of this experience. I expect my time away from home to be productive and meaningful. I am grateful for the continued support I have received from my friends and family. I am committed to working hard to prove worthy of it.
I’m not exactly sure how long I will spend on the inside, however, I expected the time to range from three to six months. Regardless of the length of time I’m committed to making the most of it and coming home stronger than when I went in.
To document the journey for my family and friends, I’m choosing to contribute to a blog that will highlight my experiences through a federal prison camp. I’m committed to finding meaning through this struggle. Writing is one way that I can do that.
Certainly, I’m a little unsure about what the coming days and weeks may look like. Having never been to prison, I’m not exactly sure what to expect. That said, regardless of the inevitable ups and downs of a prison term, I am committed to making the most of this experience. I encourage any and all who read this blog to hold me accountable by ensuring I follow through on the lofty goals I plan to lay out.
I will write again from the inside.
