I’ve constantly had ideas for new designs, new software and improvements for existing devices. I recently saw an app for smart phones that mimics a device that I prototyped in 1994. With ideas being something that anyone can have, it’s essential to find a way to maximize good ideas. There are some great research tools to see if your idea is unique including Googles patent search engine. If your idea is unique, and you think it could be worthwhile take the next step and files a patent to protect the idea. Nolo press makes a wonderful set of books that helps define the entire process of writing and filing patents.
