For more than two years I have been leading the Michael G. Santos Foundation. With support from The California Wellness Foundation, and others, Michael Santos and I were able to create, design and implement a re-entry program. The program is based around Michael's journey through federal prison. I am proud to announce that we have a new program that will soon be coming to market. The program includes 50 lesson plans, and 10 one hour videos, totaling 60-hours. I expect incarcerated juveniles who complete the 60-hour values based, goal oriented program to receive credit towards their high school diploma or GED. I know our re-entry program has authenticity because it was created by someone who lived the message through 25 years of imprisonment.
Recently, the foundation sponsored a video introducing the Straight-A Guide program. I attach the video below.

Over the last few months I have formed a friendship with Hilary Neiman. In my calls with Hilary, I learned that she was once a distinguished attorney who in an out of character moment made a terrible mistake that cost her not just her law career, but also her freedom. In the coming weeks, I expect Hilary to really begin sharing the valuable lessons she learned as a result of her journey through the system.

Since returning from Dayton Ohio two weeks ago, I have been working non-stop. In addition, to working with two new consulting clients, I have been busy securing new speaking events. Several events have been confirmed, including my trip to speak at Reyes Holdings in Chicago on May 7th & May 8th. Reyes Holdings is an impressive global brand that distributes a variety of food and beverages around the world. I will speak to leaders on their sales team. Additionally, each executive will receive a copy of Ethics in Motion.

Since Scott London was indicted, I have had at least 15 people ask me if I am consulting him. Not yet I am not. Determined to help him I sent a copy of Lessons From Prison to his lawyer. I may never know if the lawyer will pass it along.

A chance encounter at Goldman Sachs during my junior year at USC changed my life. Until that time, I had planned to go to graduate school to continue studying Psychology. During my junior year, my mother mentioned I had an older cousin who worked at Goldman Sachs. She pleaded with him to let me come down and visit. Once I did I was hooked! After spending a whole day at Goldman, I knew graduate school was out the proverbial window. I just loved the aura on that trading floor, and I loved being around confident executives who so casually, it seemed to me, tossed around $100 million dollar trades. As I note below in the rest of chapter 1, The Beginning, I changed directions and after graduation began my career at Merrill Lynch. It was at that time, unfortunately, I began making decisions that were totally antithetical to my distinguished cousin.

I'm excited to begin posting my book, Lessons From Prison, on line. As I wrote last week, I was tempted to do this from Taft Camp, but ultimately decided against it. The opening of the book changed after having many conversations with my friend, Michael Santos. Originally, I had discussed getting into much greater detail about my youth, baseball career, and so forth. That approach, Michael suggested, would work well for my friends and family. "If that's your market", he said, "then you will succeed."

While I was working on my first book Lessons From Prison, I contemplated placing the book on line. Essentially, after I would write a page or two, I considered having my mom, who maintained my blog, place it on my site. Ultimately, of course, I decided against the idea. Now, though, I have decided to give it a go. For the next 100 days, I am going to post a page or two from Lessons From Prison. Somedays I will place some notes above the text to add some perspective. I plan to add the first pages on Monday, January 7th. I hope everyone enjoys!

A month ago, I attended a networking event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The event was sponsored by The Private Bank of California, and managed by Carl Terzian, a legend in the public relations business. This event is different from other cheesy networking events that are full of self-promotional business people sharing corny cliches about how their product or whatever they sell is the best in the world. This event differed because rather just focusing on our business, we were asked to share our "back of the card" story. I heard incredible people open up about the charities they give so much time to, or the efforts a mother and father have made to raise twin boys who have auticism. This group inspired me, and I consider it a privilege to be in the early stages of forming friendships with many of them. Carl has invited me to another event at the Hilton on January 25. I am excited to attend again!
