Three Years

This is the third anniversary of the worst day of my life. This is the anniversary of the death of my oldest son. He was bright, handsome and had a big heart. I miss him every single day. I should be at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe, Michigan today placing a rose on the niche that holds his ashes. Instead, I am in a federal prison because of the poor choices I have made. If you have children, call them and tell them you love them. Better yet, if your children are still living with you, give them a hug and let them know how much you care. Before you know it, they will be off with their friends, off to college, off to work in a different state or off to another world.
I am still blessed. I have my wife and my youngest son. I look forward to the day that I can leave here and be with them again.
Still learning hard lessons in Jesup, Georgia.
