__PRISON INFO./ADVICE;- For the past few months there has been many rumors about some major changes getting ready to take place here at Madison. The three biggest rumors are that the level one side of Madison (there are two sides of Madison which make up two totally different prisons, a level one security side and the side I currently reside in is a level two) is installing a second razor wired fence around the perimeter, enabling them to secure inmates with more severe criminal cases and greater lengths of time just like this side. Currently the level one side only has one razor wired fence, keeping many inmates from transferring from here to there because they have to be 'double fenced'. It's also rumored that they're doing this in order to change the security level of both prisons all together, changing this level 2 side over to a 3 and the level 1 side over to a 2 because of the influx of state prisoners and the need for more level 3 prisons because they're quickly running out of bed space. How true this is, I have no idea, but what I did just verify is that they are indeed installing a second fence around the level 1 prison. Why they're doing this I'm not sure yet, just more rumors. The other rumor is that they're shipping the juveniles out of here in order to make room for more adult inmates. As of now, Madison is the only prison in the state of Ohio that houses the juveniles convicted as adults. The juveniles are kept separate from us adults, there is absolutely no contact between juveniles and adults, if they walk to or from somewhere, they do it as a group, with multiple guards escorting them. If the juveniles are passing by, we are to hold our positions at a distance and if another inmate was to try to talk to one of them they would be thrown in the hole. Anyway back to the rumor, the rumor of shipping out the juveniles has been tossed around for as long as I've been here. But now this is also verified as factual information. As of September the juveniles are being transferred to another institution in order to make room for more adult inmates. Of course I don't know for sure, but it certainly looks as if they are preparing to change the security levels here at Madison. Will this have an effect on me, probably not, will this have an effect on my good friend Kurt, quite possibly, but I think the worst thing to happen would be getting shipped over next door, which really isn't that bad either. No matter what happens, I have faith that God will take care of us both.

___PRISON INFO./ADVICE;- In an attempt to improve on security measures and keep up with technology, Lebanon Correctional Facility (the level 3 prison I was transferred from more than a year ago) as well as Warren Correctional, which is just across the street from Lebanon are both testing drones to monitor inmates on the yard and the perimeter of the fence. I personally think this isn't such a bad idea, doing this in many other prisons should cut down on having to hire more guards and increase their ability to view inmates for the safety of the community and the safety of inmates and other guards as well. |
