A part of the punishment that the prison officials handed down to me was taking away the good days I earned from being in horticulture. Good days are not at all the reason for me taking horticulture, I only qualify to earn one good day a month, that's a total of twelve good days for the entire year of class. Other inmates are able to earn five good days for every month, this is a result of their crimes being committed after the new law was passed, where as I committed my crime before the law was passed. Before this whole drug screening mess, I earned a total of 3 good days; the officials told me they were taking these good days away as punishment. My original release date was 3/26/16, changing to 3/23/16 after getting my good days. To my surprise, I received a monthly paper with my release date changed to 3/22/16. This means that the officials either decided not to take my good days away, or they just messed up and forgot, regardless I still have my good days. When having to serve five years, a matter of days doesn't really matter, of course I'd be lying if I didn't say I want to get out of this place as soon as possible, but when looking at the big picture, I could do a difference of days standing on my head.
