MISTAKE?

A Mistake is defined as an "error, a false step, a blunder, an event caused by an accident". I received an email from one of my blog readers. It was a kind message and He stated I was a good man who made a "mistake". I enjoyed the message but recognized the error it contained immediately. What I did was not a "mistake". A mistake is an unintentional act. It is when you forget to put sun block in your bag when you go to the beach or when you turn left instead of right at an intersection. What I did was make a poor choice, and there is a big difference between a poor choice and a mistake. A choice is defined as the "right or power to choose". When I decided to do what I did I had a choice. I simply made the wrong choice to avoid the immediate adverse consequences of the right choice. Knowing the difference between a mistake and a poor choice is the first step towards taking responsibility for your actions. I know in the past that I passed off many of my poor choices as mistakes. In the future, I hope to correct that error.
