Good Day in Federal Prison

Today was a good day in Federal Prison. I received a letter from one of my oldest son's (deceased) best friends. This young man has a special place in my heart because in addition to being a close friend to my son, He is the son of one of my best friends (also deceased). We share allot in common. Each of us lost a close friend and I lost my son and He lost his father. I know He is very disappointed in Me but He still took the time to write and share what was going on in his life. He also had some kind words for Me (it is nice to hear some kind words in prison as it generally is a very negative place).

He reminded Me of some of the father/son adventures we shared over the years. The stories brought back many fond memories. He asked Me to share some stories about his Dad from the old days, before He was born. I had promised to do that when He got older. I made that commitment to him when I was delivering the eulogy at his father's funeral a number of years ago. Today, I am starting to honor my commitment to him and I am drafting a letter with some old tales. I have the time and the desire to share some stories that I hope He will cherish as much as I do. I am doing my best to make the best of my time.
