Before I came to prison, Justin told Me to stay away from prison sports. He told me I would encounter extreme personalities. He also told Me I could get injured and then I would have to deal with the dreaded prison medical staff.
I ignored Justin's sage advice, and of course, broke my finger playing softball. No worries, I will simply go to medical. The saga begins. I had to fill out a sick call cop-out. Five days later, I got to see the nurse. She said I needed an x-ray. Approximately ten days later, I got an x-ray. Seven days later, I was called in for x-ray review. I have a displaced fracture. (I knew that). Two days later, I saw an actual Doctor. She said I needed to see an orthopedic specialist. She also scheduled another x-ray? Finally, 34 days after I injured the finger, I saw the orthopedic specialist. He told Me I have a displaced fracture and that it had healed in an irregular fashion. (fractures do tend to heal after 30 days?). He stated that He would have to re-break the finger and properly align it to make it right. He told Me to use the finger and see if I get full range of motion over the next two weeks without having to resort to surgery. I have nor regained full use of the finger so surgery is the next option.
I cannot imagine the cost of fixing my finger now that the process has been delayed for five weeks. Your tax dollars at work?
The moral of the story is to follow Justin's advice and avoid prison sports. Try and stay away from medical as well!
