This Week in Jesup
If I owed you a letter, It went out in yesterday's mail. Eleven in total, that I completed over the Holiday weekend. (Columbus Day). If you want to receive letters in prison, You have to send letters.
This week marks my one year anniversary in prison. (not a recommended anniversary). I am feeling ok. My physical health is better than when I came in the door. Mentally, I have had good days, and I have had bad days, just like in the real world. I might add that my table manners have significantly declined. I eat my meals in 7 minutes or less. I use my hands to eat on a regular basis, as it is difficult to cut some menu items with a plastic "spork". I wipe my hands on my pants on occasion as we have been without napkins for awhile. (budget cuts affect every unit of government). My family will probably have to send Me to "Manners' class" when I get home.
I will have to have surgery on my finger to repair it according to the orthopedic Surgeon I consulted with yesterday. A silly little injury turned into a big deal because prison medical is not equipped to respond in a timely fashion.
The weather has been pleasant so I have been able to spend plenty of time on the rec yard.
If I had to pick out one thing that stands out in my thoughts during my first year of prison (besides my family), it would be how much I took everything I had for granted in my life. I will not let that happen again.
