I had a wonderful surprise today, my wife and our very dear friend Marcia came to visit last ,imute, spur of the moment, it was a great treat. Of course a visit from family and friends is so important to all of us in the camp but when comes as a last minute surprise it is almost twice as good. Not only do visits mean a lot to the inmates it is also an important event in BOP policy, visits take first priority over work and all other parts of the day and it is given favored nation status.
For me seeing my wife and friends brings me a great deal of joy and maintains my touch and contact to my life on the outside. It's reassuring to remember that I have a very good place to go to and a wonderful spouse and great friends to help me get back to my life and to rebuild the better future.
It also reminds me that I am not on this journey alone, that there is a strong support system waiting for me and that with their help and my drive and persistence this will be only a slight hiccup in my life. Certainly it will be and is a learning experience and I will continue to make the time in as productive as possible.
