I have to say that the creativity of some of the inmates with regard to food is amazing. There is seriously some gourmet cooking going on in here. What makes it more amazing is the lack of any real kitchen tools or real fine ingredients for the the chefs to use. They do there magic with what they have on hand and the heat source isn’t even really a heat source, it’s a microwave oven. Just to share some of the more, what i consider, amazing dishes I have recently seen, a strawberry cheesecake, yes a cheesecake. Without revealing too many of the chefs secrets, this one was made with cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, eggs, strawberry jam, vanilla, and the crust was crushed Oreo cookies. A pizza, the crust was made from wraps pieced together and then the edges turned up with some oil, tomatoes, onions, peppers, sausage, sauce, cheese and an assortment of spices, amazing. The list of creative dishes goes on, the inventiveness and ability of these men is incredible. There are fish cakes, apple pies, banana cream pies, granola and honey bars, this place should be featured on the food network. In fact I would like to write a recipe book from here, the fun never stops at camp fed.
