One of the biggest challenges we all face in prison is the boredom factor, it can be an area if the confinement that many find difficult to manage.  It reminds me of a line from "Catch 22", a couple of the characters in the book were talking about the passage of time in their air corp platoon and one mentions to the other that the more bored he was the longer it took time to pass, his intent was to be as bore as possible to extract the most amount of time from his time.  Now he felt this way because his bomber group was being devastated and shot out of the sky with great frequency, shortening many of the means tenuous hold on life.  Here we have the opposite relations to time, here we want the time to pass as quickly as possible to shorten our time in here.  Perspective, it's all about perspective.
