The cooler weather has finally hit Camp Fed; the 6:30 Am temp was just below 40 degrees according to the local news station, that's the time I get my 5 to 6 miles in. I'm prepared for it, had on my hat, gloves, sweats and windbreaker and I was snug and warm. This outfit will take me down to the high 20s so I good to go. It was a beautiful morning for a walk and I really enjoyed it.
Back on the work scene, I find it hard to believe some of the blatant indifference and rudeness some inmates exhibit to each other. It still mystifies me that many of my fellow inmates don't get that we're all in here together and a little civility would go a long way. I don't get why they just can’t better to one another. The COs on a whole exhibit the very same behaviour as the inmates, from them I can understand, I don't think its right but I do recognize they are dealing with all of the same inmates and their attitudes for years on end, so, while I don't understand the behaviour I get it. The COs like the inmates get institutionalized after so many years doing the same thing day in and day out. They are affected too, yes they leave at the end of their shift but most are "serving" 20 to 25 year sentences, it must take a toll. I don't know if they get any psychological help or counselling, but knowing the BOP, I'm sure they don't.
There's no question that for those who are here for more than 2 years, there is a screaming need for counselling, schooling and rehabilitation. For all of us on either side of the "bars"
