Kenneth Flaska's

My name is Ken Flaska. I was born and raised in Michigan. I graduated from Wayne State University with a business degree in 1974 and a law degree in 1978. I developed a successful law practice and served as the Head of the Litigation Group at a prominent Midwestern Law Firm. Poor choices influenced by a personal financial crisis led me to engage in Fraudulent Banking activities. I plead guilty to Bank Fraud in April of 2014 and was sentenced to serve 64 months in Federal Prison in September of 2014. I plan on using my time away reading and writing a blog about my experiences and other related topics. I also plan to write a book. The monumental consequences associated with a Federal Felony Conviction seem unsurmountable at times, but I am confident that hard work and complete transparency will allow me to return to the real world as a wiser, stronger and more productive human being. I am blessed to have a beautiful wife and an incredible son support me through this difficult journey.

Rough Day in Federal Prison

April 14, 2014 Rough Day in Federal Prison Well, today is not a very good day in prison. My Cellie's "snore prevention device" is malfunctioning and making a loud whistling sound in our 7 x 10 cube. In the real world, you would simply get up and move to another room...

Redemption?

March 29, 2015 Redemption? I just got off the phone with my wife. She relayed a story to me the shows the difficulty associated with remaining friends with a felon. One of our dearest friends was at a social function and ran in to a former friend of mine, Valerie,(a...

White Collar Suicide

Father’s Guilt

Father's Guilt As I said before, there is a tremendous amount of guilt and shame associated with being a felon. It affects your thinking and causes you to act in an irrational manner at times. I have been putting off calling my son who is back in college because I...

Early Morning Surprise in Federal Prison

March 20, 2015 Early Morning Surprise in Federal Prison Prison can offer some unexpected surprises at the strangest times. Today was linen exchange day. Each Wednesday we line up at the laundry at 6:15 a.m. to exchange our sheets and blanket for "clean" ones. After...

Best Man

March 20, 2015 Best Man When you get married, your best man is someone you have usually known for a long time. You have a history of shared experiences (good and bad). It is someone who knows your faults and weaknesses and despite that knowledge, is still your friend...

Do Not Get Sick in Federal Prison

March 18, 2015 Do Not Get Sick in Federal Prison? I went to sick call the other day as I have some blood work that came back with "out of range" results. As I sat there waiting for the Doctor, I remember what Justin told me prior to surrendering to prison. "The...

National Felons League

March 16, 2015 National Felons League I watched several live N.F.L. games last fall, right here in Jesup, Georgia. N.F.L. is the acronym for the National Felons league. There were 6 teams in the football league, each named after their respective Captain's favorite NFL...

Spring Forward in Federal Prison

March 13, 2015 Spring Forward in Federal Prison I forgot that March 8 was the day we set our clocks forward (spring forward). I almost missed the "Morning stand-up count!". After count, I sat at lunch and overheard yet another depressing prison story about a fellow...
