The Happiest Days of My Life
When you are in prison, you have plenty of time to reflect upon your past. The ugliness of what you did to earn your way into prison is always lingering. I have days where I try to remember the happy things only! Sometimes it works, other times it does not. The happiest days of my life are, for the most part, pretty common; Getting my drivers license, Graduating from college and Law School, The day I met my wife for the first time and knowing right away that She was the one, My wedding day, The days each of my beautiful sons were born. Those are the days that I treasure.
To my surprise, I just experienced one of the happiest days of my life and I am in prison. My wife was able to get time off from work and make the 500 mile (one way) drive to Jesup to visit. It is difficult to describe the feeling you experience when you have been apart from the one you love (and took for granted) for 4 months, and there She is in the prison visiting room. I will confess that I broke down in tears in front of the whole room. Crying in prison is frowned upon. It is kind of like Tom Hank's line in "A League of their Own", There is no crying in baseball!
To see her, to hug her, to kiss her, to smell her, lets me know that one day everything is going to be ok. To have someone stand beside you despite your open and obvious faults, is an incredibly uplifting feeling.
Today, despite my situation, I am truly a happy man.

I have tears in my eyes rereading this. I’m so happy you two were able to see each other.
