"Post Traumatic Growth Syndrome" ?

Over the past several years I have experienced more than my fair share of trauma. I have lost family members and friends. I have lost my son which was the worst thing that has ever happened to me.( Prison is a very distant second ) I have also suffered from self-induced trauma from my crime. I rightfully lost my career, my possessions, my community, many relationships and my freedom.
These events have caused great suffering. However, they have also presented an opportunity for Me to grow and experience a positive change.
I just finished reading an interesting article on the positive effects of trauma, "Post Traumatic Growth". Studies show that people who experience trauma report positive changes in their lives. They discover greater inner strength, they become closer to their family and friends, and they reorganized their lives towards more fulfilling goals. Trauma pushed them to change their lives for the better.
I am seeing some positive side effects from the trauma I have endured. I am closer to my family and I have a sense of more inner strength. I hope I continue to experience the "positive side" of trauma.
