Things I Think I Will Miss When I Get to Prison Camp
I thought it would be interesting to put together a list of the things I think I will miss the most once I am in prison and then put together the same list after I am there for a while and see if the list changes. So here goes in no particular order….
- Going to bed and waking up next to the person I love
- Tito Puente (my dog, not the dead Puerto Rican “King of Mambo”) – I love walking him!
- Tito’s Handmade Vodka (up, no vermouth, a little dirty with bleu cheese stuffed olives) and catching up on our front porch
- Having a mentally stimulating job where I work with amazing people
- Getting together with my Mom, Les, my brothers and their wives and Dani
- Fresh brewed coffee with high quality, freshly ground beans
- Submerging myself in water (swimming pool, spa)
- Cooking my own meals
- Sushi and sashimi
- A nice juicy steak
- Dinner with friends
- Our next “birthday club” vacation with Howard and Sherri
- Driving with the top down
- Being able to go to the chiropractor
- Listening to music – whatever I want, whenever I want
- Not having to worry about what I say
- The internet and being able to Google anything I want, any time I want
- Planning a weekend getaway
- The beautiful Palm Springs mountains
For now, I can still do almost all of these things and I have a life to live so if you don’t mind, I am going to get back to it! Cheers!
David,
I look back on the years of photos of vacations we have enjoyed with you and Kenny. It amazes me how much of what I consider to be Life Memories are from our times together.
To explain, the four of us have had a decades-long tradition of “Fives and Zero’s”, in that when one of has a 5 or 0 birthday, that person irrevocably picks a vacation destination over his or her birthdate. On the nite of that celebratory birthday dinner, the next one who’s birthday anniversary age is a 5 or 0 must announce. a year in advance, where we will be for that next vacation together. It has varied from Napa/Sonoma, Santa Fe, Austria and Prague, the Italian Riviera, Lake Como, Croatia/Venice, Buenos Aires/Uruguay to Costa Rica/Havana and so many more.
We all look forward to resuming our journey through life together, know that we share our un-ending love, and know that with your attitude and remarkable inner strength, we all will be vacation-bound together again. With heartfelt love, Howard and Sherri
I love you Howard and Sherri! And resuming our birthday club – albeit on a smaller scale – is near the very top of the list of the things I am looking forward to when I am on the other side.
Hi David,
Keeping this list with you will also give the motivation to keep going. You will get back to them when this ordeal is over. They will seem even sweeter because you will appreicate them so much more.
I keep you in my prayers and thoughts. Take care and enjoy the holidays. Thanksgiving will be even more meaningful this year.
Love you,
Sandy
I think you are absolutely right Sandy! Thanks for the encouragement!
Davey – what I’m going to miss most is you. I’ll also miss our special weekends, laughing hysterically as we watch Tito and Rudy do what they do. But they’ll be there when you come home – ready to do a special dance just for you. 🙂
I am so very much looking forward to that X! So happy we both have such young vibrant dogs who will live very long wonderful lives as cousins!
