Health Update From Federal Prison Camp
When I arrived to federal prison a few weeks ago I had ended a decade of poor health. The combination of email and stress of dealing with 10 years of legal battles, financial ruin, starting a new company, and losing my legal battles took it's toll on me physically. The fact that on top of the stress I averaged 16 to 20 hour work days seven days a week meant that I had gained a lot of weight.
My new schedule at Taft Federal Prison Camp is now focused on a balanced lifestyle that includes a healthy diet and plenty of exercise. I've reduced my daily intake to an average of 2000 cal. I am now walking several miles a day.
My first week I was able to lose 8 pounds and start to increase my cardiovascular fitness. I have medical exam in the next two weeks and am excited to see the positive impact on my resting heart rate and blood pressure. This week I'm adding some isometric exercises to the schedule. The added benefit of my new prison routine includes more energy during the day and more sound rest.
My prison consultant, Justin Paperny, highly encouraged me to make good use of my time in prison and that included a daily exercise routine that I would follow both in prison and upon my release. I'm so pleased that I took the advice, and that I'm off to a good start.
If you find yourself, like I was, caught in a criminal investigation while working crazy amounts of powers and in a Silicon Valley lifestyle I urge you to find an hour each day to put aside for your health. I wish I had done it sooner. I promise it will improve your overall health, and your quality-of-life.
