Many of my friends are surprised to learn that time off for good behavior in federal prison is limited to 54 days per year – or 15% of the total sentence – regardless of whether the conviction was for murder or securities fraud. So under current federal law, the most I can reduce my sentence of five years for good behavior is 9 months. FedCURE – the leading advocate for America’s federal inmate population – is working to enact the Barber Amendment which would increase the possible time off for good behavior from 54 days per year to 128 days per year for non-violent offenders. Here is a link with more information on the Barber Amendment including how it will save a lot of tax dollars without affecting public safety:
If you have a Facebook account, I would also appreciate it if you would post the following on your wall.

David, I’m not sure how I feel about you starting your sentence next week but I am proud of how you have handled yourself in this situation. Always with a smile and super positive energy…that is the David I know and love! Petition has been signed and posted to FB. Lookout for a road trip from me and the girls…we’ll come down and visit you…love, gwen
Gwen – I am counting on you, Bridgette, Lisa, Jennifer (and maybe even Susie!) visiting!
David, certainly not the typical “job change” Linked In announcement. I’m sorry you got caught up in this and truly hope you’re able to turn this negative into a positive. Best, Al Greco
If anyone can, Al, it is me! Thanks for the encouraging words!
